Thomas Jensen

Tom Jensen is a transactional attorney whose career began in private practice for law firms in St. Louis and Chicago, and focused primarily on commercial real estate, and mergers and acquisitions. Most of his work involved transactions for large institutional clients including national banks, insurance companies, and publicly traded real estate investment trusts.

Eventually, Tom moved in-house to become General Counsel and Director of Transactions to a financial services company, and subsequently became President of a private equity owned syndication group. Both companies specialized in the acquisition and eventual syndication of tax credit eligible housing developments to very large institutional investors.

Tom later worked independently offering legal and business advisory services to a wide range of established companies and early stage entrepreneurial efforts while supporting various private equity groups in raising capital for the acquisition of small to middle market companies. This work also led to the formation of his own company to develop innovation oriented energy projects for utilities and their commercial and industrial ratepayers.

Tom’s law practice occasionally requires building teams to accommodate every feature of the transaction’s needs and he is able to call on a host of expert lawyers, accountants and deal-makers to join him to fill every requirement as necessary.

Tom has been a speaker at conferences on subjects ranging from tax credits, finance structures, and energy. He is also a recurring guest lecturer at the University of Missouri where he has taught at the law school, as well as the business school with special emphasis on the MBA program.

Tom is a 1993 graduate of the University of Missouri, and a 1997 graduate of Saint Louis University School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois.
